Joel Malak

Dr. Joel Malak is the Director of Environmental and Occupational Health within the Environment, Health and Safety Department at University of Wisconsin Madison. In this role, he serves on the Dual Use Research of Concern Committee, Institutional Biosafety Committee, Point of Dispensing (Communicable Disease Emergency Response) Workgroup, and the Biosecurity Task Force.

Joel’s current research interests include outbreak planning and response, vaccine efficacy and tolerability, viral disease surveillance in occupational settings, and Total Worker Health. He serves as a preceptor for preventive medicine residents interested in various aspects of campus Public Health including Emergency Response, Occupational Medicine, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, and Environmental Health.
