Nasia Safdar, MD, is an infectious disease physician at UW Health. She treats the full range of infectious diseases and has served as medical director of Infection Control at UW Health since 2009.
With a strong desire to help people, Dr. Safdar provides high-quality care that centers around each patient and encourages shared decision-making. She enjoys interacting with her patients and putting together the clues involved in solving the mystery of infectious diseases.
Dr. Safdar specializes in healthcare-associated infections (HAI), such as clostridium difficile infection (C. Diff). Patients may get these infections while receiving care for another health condition. She researches ways to identify and prevent HAIs to improve patient safety.
In addition to her clinical work and research, Dr. Safdar serves as an associate professor of infectious diseases at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Medicine and as the associate chief of staff for research at the William S. Middleton VA Hospital. In her free time, Dr. Safdar enjoys gardening, writing poetry and reading thriller novels.
