Dr. Wegner is the Chronic Disease Medical Advisor for the Bureau of Community Health Promotion (BCHP) and an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His work addresses the issues that cause most of the morbidity and mortality in the US. His efforts with BCHP involve working to reduce the burden of stroke, diabetes, and cancer in Wisconsin, improving the diagnosis of hypertension and improving management of those diagnosed with hypertension, and decreasing the impact of tobacco on Wisconsin residents, including newer tobacco alternatives like e-cigarettes. He also provides clinical guidance and support on policies and individual cases for the Wisconsin Well Woman and WISEWOMAN Programs. He serves as a preceptor for preventive medicine residents interested in chronic disease rotations and serves on the UW Preventive Medicine Residency Clinical Competency Committee.
