Mike was born in China and grew up in South Florida. He attended college at Rice University and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Bioengineering. He then attend UT Southwestern Medical School and graduated in 2015. He then completed two years of Family Medicine Residency in South Texas. Afterwards, he worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a Correctional Medical Director for five years, providing much needed care to an underserved population. He worked as part of a management team that oversees the daily operations of the prison along with improving healthcare management and outcomes to inmates in his region. His professional interests include providing care to underserved populations, improving healthcare disparities, and studying epidemiological trends in diseases across different populations across the United States. In his free time, Mike enjoys playing chess, swimming, and jogging with his beautiful golden retriever, Royal.
